Mental Health Skills Building Services

At Personal Solutions Counseling Services, our Mental Health Skill-building Services (MHSS) program assist adults with becoming educated on their mental health disorders while maintaining stability and independence in the home and community settings. If you our a loved one is experiencing one or some of the common diagnosis and behaviors such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar I or Bipolar II, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Poor Management of ADL, Isolation, Poor Money Management and Poor Medication Management you can benefit from MHSS. 

Training and Skills Building Provided Include:

  • Management of psychiatric symptoms

  • Monitoring of health/physical conditions

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Increased independent living skills

  • Enhancement of social and interpersonal skills

  • Financial Management

  • Use of community resources

  • Organization and Routine

  • Service Coordination with other professionals

  • Crisis Support

Who is elligible to receive Mental Health Skill Building Services?

To receive MHSS the individual must meet the following criteria for services:


-The individual shall have one of the following as a primary Axis 1 DSM diagnosis:

  • Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder

  • Major Depressive Disorder - Recurrent

  • Bipolar l or Bipolar ll;

  • Other diagnosis may qualify if documented by a physician that it produces functional limitations to daily life activities

  -The individual shall have a history of psychiatric hospitalization or crisis treatment

  -The individual must have a prescription for psychotropic, mood stabilizers, or antidepressant medications within 12 months prior to services

  -The individual shall require assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) in the least restrictive   environment 

Our services are primarily Medicaid funded through the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS)
