A Brief Overview of Our Mental Health Skill Development Services
Our Mental Health Skill-building Services (MHSB) program at Personal Solutions Counseling Services helps persons learn about their mental health conditions while retaining stability and independence in their homes and communities. If you or a loved one is suffering from a common diagnosis and behavior like Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar I or II, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Poor ADL Management, Isolation, Poor Money Management, or Poor Medication Management, MHSS can help.
Training and Skills Building Provided Include:
- Management of psychiatric symptoms
- Monitoring of health/physical conditions
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Increased independent living skills
- Enhancement of social and interpersonal skills
- Financial Management
- Use of community resources
- Organization and Routine
- Service Coordination with other professionals
- Crisis Support
Who is elligible to receive Mental Health Skill Building Services?
To receive MHSB the individual must meet the following criteria for services:
- The individual shall have one of the following as a primary Axis 1 DSM diagnosis:
- Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder
- Major Depressive Disorder - Recurrent
- Bipolar l or Bipolar ll;
- Other diagnoses may qualify if documented by a physician that it produces functional limitations to daily life activities
- The individual shall have a history of psychiatric hospitalization or crisis treatment
- The individual must have a prescription for psychotropic, mood stabilizers, or antidepressant medications within 12 months prior to services
- The individual shall require assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) in the least restrictive environment
