Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Service (ASAM 3.1)

Our Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Services (ASAM Level 3.1) is the lowest level of residential care available under ASAM. At this level, five hours of clinical services will be provided each week. Treatment will focus on topics like recovery skills, relapse prevention, and managing emotions. 3.1 treatment must be capable of treating co-occurring disorders. 3.1 treatment must be capable of treating co-occurring disorders. Services at this level include outpatient substance abuse services, a structured recovery environment, 24-hour staffing, house meetings, and a community that promotes living skills. Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC believes this allows time to implement the development of the client’s recovery skills in a safe environment creating the basic conditions for the establishment of a substance-free life.


What can an individual expect from Clinically Managed Low Intensity Residential Services?

Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC (PSCS) Clinically Managed Low Intensity Residential Services are implemented with a framework of modeling, teaching, safety planning, and feedback. Treatment modalities are unique to the person served and are critical to assist clients to generalize skill development. Individuals should expect to:

  • Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plan with care providers to address substance abuse and mental health disorder
  • Receive counseling and clinical monitoring to support successful initial involvement in regular, productive daily activity
  • Receive case management services including enhanced community integration, peer recovery support services and outpatient therapy services
  • Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills and access to healthy support systems
  • Improve independent daily living skills to stabilize home placement
  • Receive referral and linkage to other community-based services at the appropriate level of care


Who is eligible to receive Clinically Managed Low Intensity Residential Services at PSCS?


In order to be eligible for Clinically Managed Low Intensity Residential Services, one must meet two of the following criteria. They must have:

  • 21 years and older
  • Chronic long-term alcoholism or drug addiction
  • Diminished adaptive skills and emotional functioning due to active addiction.
  • Difficulty establishing and maintaining normal interpersonal relationships to a degree that one is at risk of hospitalization, homelessness or isolation from social supports
  • Difficulty maintaining activities of daily living, such as hygiene, food preparation or managing finances to the degree that health or safety is jeopardized
  • Inappropriate behavior that necessitates immediate interventions by mental health, social services or the judicial system
  • Difficulty in cognitive ability. For example, one is unable to recognize personal danger or recognize significantly inappropriate social behavior


Partial Hospitalization Program (2.5)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP ASAM 2.5) provides support and treatment to clients who are experiencing substance abuse and mental health issues. Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC PHP require clients to attend treatment a minimum 20 hours per week and at least five service hours per service day of skilled treatment services with a planned format, including individual and group psychotherapy, substance use disorder counseling, medication management, education groups, occupational and recreational therapy, and other therapies. Our PHP is designed for clients who require more support than an intensive outpatient program however it offers more flexibility than a 24-hour inpatient hospital or residentially monitored setting. At Personal Solutions Counseling Services we offer our PHP clients a high level of care with a supportive team during their recovery.



A.) What can an individual expect from Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Services?

Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC (PSCS) Partial Hospitalization Program provides treatment in a safe environment while offering education in addictive disorders, recovery planning, individual and group therapy, and medication management. We create a treatment plan that is unique to the person served and is critical in assisting each client with developing effective recovery skill. Clients should expect to:

  • Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plan with care providers to address substance abuse and mental health disorder
  • Receive case management services including enhanced community integration, peer recovery support services and outpatient therapy services
  • Participate in group and individual therapy sessions
  • Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills and access to healthy support systems
  • Improve independent daily living skills to stabilize home placement
  • Receive referral and linkage to other community-based services at the appropriate level of care


B.) What is eligible to receive Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Services at PSCS?

  • Difficulty in cognitive ability and requires support with recognizing personal danger or significantly inappropriate social behaviors

Intensive Outpatient Services (ASAM 2.1) 

Our SA Intensive Outpatient Services (ASAM Level 2.1) provides clients with the opportunity to obtain necessary treatment while continuing to live at home and working/attending school in the community. Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC believes this allows time to implement the development of the client’s recovery skills in a safe environment creating the basic conditions for the establishment of a substance-free life. Clients receiving this service can address co-occurring disorders-i.e., both a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder. Clients in a 2.1 program receive 9-19 hours of treatment per week and are linked to other professionals such as physicians, therapists, and psychiatrists to further support their recovery process.



To be eligible for Intensive Outpatient Services, one must meet following criteria: They must be/have:


  • 12 years old and up at the time of the referral; and
  • Present two of the following:
  • Acute Alcohol and/or drug intoxication and/or potential withdrawal; or
  • Physical or emotional conditions or complications; or
  • Substance Abuse conditions or complications
  • Life Areas impairment
  • Treatment acceptance/resistance
  • Loss of control/relapse crisis
  • Recovery Environment
  • Returning home from a SA hospital, SA institution or correctional placement and needs SA Group support to successfully transition back home; and
  • Individual and his/her family have needs that can be adequately addressed through the services offered by Personal Solutions Counseling Services, LLC’s 
  • Individual and his or her family are willing and able to participate in 3 or more SA group sessions per week.
